The Buffalo Bills have one of the better rosters in the NFL and are capable of competing for a championship in 2025. However, Sean McDermott's squad has a pressing need at wide receiver that must be addressed.
Outside of Khalil Shakir, who primarily operates in the slot, Buffalo lacks dependable receiving options for quarterback Josh Allen. Keon Coleman was expected to be a top target in the Bills' offense this season, but the second-year receiver hasn't developed into a consistent playmaker yet.
Finding another productive receiver in the middle of the season will be challenging for Buffalo, but it looks like general manager Brandon Beane is making calls.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Bills called the New Orleans Saints and checked in on the availability of star receiver Chris Olave. Though the Saints are 1-7 and could look to move Olave, Russini adds that New Orleans is expected to keep its No.1 pass-catcher.
"The Bills were one of the teams that inquired in recent weeks about Saints WR Chris Olave. New Orleans is still expected to retain its top wideout," Russini wrote.
Despite dealing with incompetent quarterback play, Olave has been pretty productive in 2025. Through eight games, the Ohio State product has tallied 52 receptions for 503 yards and three touchdowns.
During his first two seasons in 2022 and 2023, Olave posted two straight 1,000-yard campaigns. A series of concussions limited him to just eight games last year, but Olave has gotten back on track.
Trading for Olave would be a fantastic in-season move by the Bills, as the 25-year-old would be the perfect complement to Shakir and give Allen another dynamic weapon.
Buffalo should also be willing to give up the draft capital necessary to acquire Olave, especially with the franchise being in its Super Bowl window right now. The Bills are slated to have three top-100 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
It doesn't sound like the Saints will move Olave ahead of the November 4 deadline, but if they change their minds, the Bills would be one of the top landing spots for the 2022 No.11 overall pick.
