When Liam Coen met with reporters ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders game, he announced that the Jaguars would be placing Travis Hunter on Injured Reserve, meaning that he'll miss at least four games before he returns. However, the bad news didn't end there.
Hours after Coen's exchange with the local media, the Jaguars have announced that they'll also place safety Eric Murray on IR. But wait, there's more. They may not be the only Jacksonville players who won't suit up against the Raiders.
Tim Patrick, Travis Hunter, and Eric Murray won't play for the Jaguars in Week 9
The Jaguars posted their final injury report for Week 9. To nobody's surprise, Travis Hunter and Eric Murray were ruled out. Similarly, tight end Quintin Morris (groin) and wide receiver Tim Patrick (groin), both of whom missed the Los Angeles Rams game, won't suit up against the Raiders. On the other hand, linebacker Devin Lloyd got the questionable designation.

The good news is that wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder), linebacker Dennis Gardeck (chest), wide receiver Dyami Brown (shoulder), and Jourdan Lewis (neck) are good to go.
On a related note, the team announced that it's signing wide receiver Austin Trammell to the active roster. He'll provide much-needed depth at receiver in light of Hunter's and Patrick's absence.
The Jaguars will be thin at WR vs. the Raiders without Travis Hunter and Tim Patrick
Potentially having linebacker Devin Lloyd against the Raiders would be huge for the Jaguars. They've missed his playmaking skills since he left the Seattle Seahawks game with a calf injury. That said, it's not a given that he'll play in Week 9. He isn't available, Ventrell Miller will once again get the starting nod.
On offense, the Jaguars already know that they'll be without Travis Hunter and Tim Patrick, so it will be up to Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Dyami Brown to pick up the slack. Fortunately, Jacksonville should have no trouble replacing Hunter at corner. Greg Newsome and Montaric Brown will start in the boundaries while Jourdan Lewis mans the slot.
Last but not least, Antonio Johnson will get to fill in for Eric Murray for as long as he's out. The 2023 fifth-round pick was the starter to begin the 2024 season but was benched in favor of Darnell Savage. He started the 2025 season behind Murray and Andrew Wingard. He'll now have the chance to show he deserves an expanded role.
The bottom line is that the Jaguars will be shorthanded against the Raiders, but they have no excuse to come out on top, as they have enough players ready to step up.
