'He's concerned': What Sean Dyche did in Nottingham Forest dugout that changed the game vs Man United

They may feel aggrieved not to have taken all three points, but a draw for Nottingham Forest against a resurgent Manchester United team is a great result.

If Nottingham Forest are going to stay in the Premier League, they will need to start picking up points fast, and Sean Dyche has just seen his side keep Man United at bay.

A poor first half saw the Red Devils take the lead from a Casemiro header from a corner, much to the frustration of Dyche, who was livid with his team’s defending as well as the match officials.

Forest stormed in front early in the second half to turn the game on its head, before an Amad Diallo wonder goal levelled the scores late on.

Leon Osman heard lots of noise from Sean Dyche

Covering the game on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Everton star Leon Osman noted an interesting observation about Dyche, stating that the Forest boss was turning up the volume as the game went on.

Osman said: “Sean Dyche has been barking orders at everybody he can. Sometimes it’s only to move their position two or three yards, but it’s to make sure they’re in a better position as he’s concerned. Callum Hudson-Odoi’s ears will be sore at this stage of the game.”

That makes a lot of sense, given the nature of the first United goal, where Forest defenders appeared to be fast asleep instead of marking Casemiro. Indeed, the little Brazilian midfielder only had to perform a standing jump to get his head to the ball.

The fact that Dyche is making himself heard and demanding those small but crucial changes from his team, particularly mid-game, speaks volumes for the direction Forest are heading now under their third manager of the season.

Can Sean Dyche keep Nottingham Forest up?

Even with that point, Forest are still four points adrift of Burnley and things are not looking good for the season ahead.

There’s no denying that the stability and defensive strength Dyche brings to Forest will serve them well. But, he’ll be fuming that his team didn’t hold onto their lead once they got ahead.

Poll: Will Nottingham Forest stay up this season?

It will be very interesting to see what January brings for Nottingham Forest. We know they’re not afraid to spend big, and it looks like new recruits will definitely be needed.

Chris Sutton backed Forest to stay up under Dyche, but it’s going to be one hell of a fight. Luckily, Dyche knows all about that scenario, and has been successful under such pressure time and time again in the past.
