The timing seemed too perfect to be brutal. The massive overhaul occurred less than 12 hours after a humiliating 28-6 prime-time beatdown against the Baltimore Ravens.
Dolphins Nation has been screaming for this move since last season’s collapse. Now, with the team sitting at 2-7 and staring down a lost season, owner Stephen Ross finally listened to the nation’s demand. Now, the question on everyone’s mind: Is Mike McDaniel next?
Dolphins Front Office Hit Rock Bottom Following Embarrassing Loss to Ravens
Grier’s decade-long run as GM ended with five winning seasons and three playoff appearances but zero postseason victories. That playoff win drought? The longest active streak in the NFL at 25 years.
The writing was on the wall. Years of busted draft picks, questionable trades, and bloated contracts left this roster in shambles. Nearly $900 million was spent on veteran free agents, yet the trenches remained neglected. The offensive line was thin like paper. The front seven looked like Swiss cheese against physical opponents.

Then Thursday’s flop show dropped Miami to 2-7, sealing Grier’s fate for the exit door. Ross stated that “change could not wait” after assessing that his team had already hit rock bottom.
Following the cut, Adam Schefter reported, “Dolphins senior personnel executive Champ Kelly now will head the Dolphins’ decisions leading up to and past Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, per sources. Kelly is their new interim GM.”

Kelly previously served as interim GM for the Raiders in 2023. His first major test? The NFL trade deadline hits Tuesday, with names like Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Matthew Judon drawing interest.
Meanwhile, HC McDaniel survives for now since reports indicate he’ll remain head coach through season’s end. But quite frankly, his seat is nuclear hot. The Miami Nation is ready with their pitchforks to cut him down.
Fans React to Dolphins’ Front Office Overhaul
Fans go wild with reactions, with nearly everyone sharing relief to outright celebration following Grier’s firing.
One fed-up fan summed it up perfectly, noting, “He wasted $900M Blown on Injury-Prone Vets, Mike, You’re Next!”
Another supporter added, “Huge change that is long overdue. Grier had many opportunities. He had some positive moments. But all told, his tenure did not result in sustained success or even a playoff win. But he’s a good man – best of luck to him moving forward.”
The pure elation was palpable. “I HAVE GOT MY JOY BACK,” one fan screamed into the void.
Then the fourth one attached a viral photo of a stone-faced McDaniel on the sideline with the caption, “The face you make when you survive ONE MORE WEEK at the job you know you’re going to get fired from…”
That picture shows how things feel in Miami right now. Grier is out. McDaniel might be next. because fans also want this to happen from the heart.
