Georginio Rutter felt special beating Leeds
The Frenchman put in a respectable performance at the middle of the park. Playing just behind the striker, he provided good support to the trio of Digeo Gomez, Danny Welbeck and Yankuba Minteh.
The Seagulls kept their first clean sheet since September as Fabian Hurzeler’s men shut Farke’s side out. Speaking to the Premier League Productions after the game the 23-year old expressed his happiness at the same.
“We have not had a clean sheet for a long time, so we are really happy. After taking three points it is very important. We have to keep going. We can do more, we can get better, but today we worked good.”, he exclaimed.
Rutter has a special reunion with Leeds
Facing his former side for the first time since his departure, Rutter felt the experience as special. He even applauded the fans who made the journey down south.
The midfielder had spent one and a-half at Elland Road before Brighton triggered his release clause. Failure to win promotion to Premier League had a big hand in his decision at that time.
The £40m star has fond memories as he recalled his time with the Whites.
“It was special, my first time playing against my old team. It was strange at the beginning, but it’s football you know. I remember my time there.”, he stated.
Leeds will face relegation rivals Nottingham Forest in their next encounter on the 9th of this month. Meanwhile Brighton will square off against Crystal Palace.
