Real Madrid vs. Valencia live updates, highlights from La Liga
2 hours to kickoff: You'd think that with Real Madrid sitting atop La Liga by solid margin at this early stage, and their Champions League prospects looking strong, all would be calm in the Spanish capital. Yet that is far from the case.
Vinicius Jr. saw his frustrations about playing time boil over on the pitch during El Clasico, and while he apologised for his insolence, there still seem to be tensions behind the scenes. We took a look at his usage by Xabi Alonso this season, and how that compares to other top wingers around the world, to see if his gripe is real or perceived. What we found is that Vini is simply a product of the evolution of modern football.

Real Madrid vs. Valencia lineups, team news
Xabi Alonso's biggest issues remain in defence with centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba still sidelined.
Club captain Dani Carvajal now faces an extended period out of action due to a knee problem, but thankfully Alonso could throw Trent Alexander-Arnold straight into his starting XI, as he is fit and can move Federico Valverde back to his natural midfield position.
Despite the quick turnaround before heading to Anfield to face Liverpool midweek, Alonso cannot afford to drop his level in La Liga with key trio Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior all set to start.
Backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is suspended after retrospectively receiving a red card from the bench during the post-Clasico scuffle last weekend.
Real Madrid projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Courtois (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Huijsen, Militao, Carreras — Valverde, Tchouameni — Guler, Bellingham, Vinicius — Mbappe.
Real Madrid subs: (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)
Valencia have a few injuries for manager Carlos Corberan to work around.
Leeds loanee Largie Ramazani is out with a muscle injury for a few more weeks, while defenders Mouctar Diakhaby and Dimitri Foulquier have hamstring injuries to deal with for a similar time frame.
New signing Filip Ugrinic who joined from Swiss side Young Boys has struggled to make an impact, and a knee injury hasn't helped the cause.
Valencia projected starting lineup (4-4-2): Agirrezabala (GK) — Correia, Tarrega, Copete, Gaya — Rioja, Guerra, Pepelu, D. Lopez — Danjuma, Beltran.
