Fabian Hurzeler praised two-goal Diego Gomez – and urged him to keep getting into the penalty area.
The Paraguay international opened his account at the Amex with a six-minute double in the second half of a 3-0 win at home to Leeds United.
Danny Welbeck finished a beautifully constructed move to give the Seagulls an early lead.
But there were just a few nerves among home fans until Gomez arrived late in the box to tuck home a low cross delivered by Yankuba Minteh.
His second followed good work by Georginio Rutter.
It was Gomez’s finest afternoon or evening at the Amex since his mid-season move from a very different world with Inter Miami in MLS last winter.
But head coach Hurzeler said: “I think he didn’t need that much time to adapt.
“It speaks for his quality and I always said I was very surprised how fast he adapted to the intensity, to the demands from the Premier League.
“It's not a surprise that he can score that many goals.
“For me, it's just the thing that he has to be more present in the opponents’ box.
“He has a really good finish, he has a good header, he has a good shot, so he has everything inside of him.
“And therefore, I'm not surprised how good he is that moment.”
