Confirmed Villa XI vs Liverpool: One key change from Emery

Aston Villa face Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday night, and Unai Emery has named his starting line-up for the encounter.

Villa make one change to the side that defeated Manchester City last time out, with the injured Emiliano Buendia replaced by Evann Guessand.

Despite Liverpool’s current struggles as they look to avoid a fifth consecutive league defeat, a trip to Merseyside is always a complicated affair, and so as Villa look to secure a fifth win on the bounce in the Premier League, we know that it will be a difficult challenge.

Emiliano Martinez continues between the sticks, and it’s the same solid backline with Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Lucas Digne in front of him as they continue to impressive as a defensive unit.

With Youri Tielemans still sidelined by injury, Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara continue in the midfield pivot, with Guessand joining John McGinn and Morgan Rogers in the trident supporting Ollie Watkins in the final third.

It’s a balanced Villa line-up with top options on the bench to impact the game both defensively or offensively, and so it’s hoped that we start positively and secure three more crucial points as our recovery this season continues.
