Chelsea fans are split about Enzo Maresca’s starting lineup for today’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur. Robert Sanchez is in goal behind a back four that includes Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, and Marc Cucurella. Captain Reece James is in the middle of the field.
Maresca’s setup suggests that James and Moises Caicedo will play as a double pivot, Enzo Fernandez will play as the advanced midfielder, Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto will play on the wings, and Joao Pedro will lead the line.
Fans reacted to the lineup with different comments like these:
“11 players, no chemistry, just vibes and blue shirts 😭💙”
“3 points and no red card please”
“I don’t care whoever is starting you just have to win or else 😭😭😭😭”
“Gittens drops a superb performance against Wolves then gets dropped to the bench the following game. Maresca doesn’t help himself or the team!”
“Gittens/ Estevao should be getting rewarded for the last performance imo.”
Chelsea has a good record in this derby lately. They won 1–0 at Stamford Bridge on April 3, 2025, thanks to a header from Fernandez. In general, they have been the better team in Premier League meetings in recent years.
The Blues have won five of their last six league games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and they have a big head-to-head advantage overall.
Maresca tells Delap to be careful after red card in the Carabao Cup
It’s a public warning from Enzo Maresca to Liam Delap after he was shown a red card at Molineux in the midweek. It also shows that Chelsea are still focused on fixing a growing problem with discipline, even though they are doing well in the competition.
Chelsea beat Wolves 4-3 in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but the biggest reaction after the game was to Delap’s late sending-off. The striker, who had been out for two months with a hamstring injury, got two yellow cards in seven minutes after coming on as a substitute.
This was Chelsea’s sixth red card in nine games this season. Maresca revealed that Delap has apologized to his teammates afterwards:
“Straight after the game in the changing room, he apologised to everyone.“I know Liam. I know he will be a fantastic payer for us, but there are some things, like the rest, that he needs to improve.
“It’s something we need to learn and we have to do better. For sure, no doubt in the future we are going to be better.”
