Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has been banned from driving again after he was caught speeding and dangerously undertaking cars in his Lamborghini. The French 25-year-old has faced multiple driving charges already, yet he was spared jail time despite what was his ninth offence.
Fofana hit with community order after dangerous driving
According to The Sun, the incident involved Fofana driving at speed along the hard shoulder of the A3 Esher Bypass in Hook, Surrey. The footage was caught on a dashcam and showed him weaving in and out of the traffic on the hard shoulder of the road in a 50 mph zone, without signaling, when more than one lane was available and safe. The Crown Prosecution Service provided the video to the court, which he then admitted to being him in the video.
Fofana received a community order for 18 months, with a requirement of 300 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £114. Yet he avoided jail, but remains banned from driving until May 2027 for previous speeding convictions.

Judge slams Fofana for reckless behaviour
District Judge Julie Cooper condemned Fofana for setting a poor example, warning him about his influence on young fans. She reminded him that many of them could try to copy such behaviour without understanding the risks. Prosecutor Rabbi Khan called his driving “dangerous and deliberate,” adding that he ignored clear warning signs.
Fofana’s lawyer Imogen Cox accepted the offence, saying her client had “no excuse” and “learned a valuable lesson.” This incident adds to his long list of speeding offences involving luxury cars like his Rolls Royce and Audi.
Author’s View
The repeated driving offenses of Fofana paint a worrying picture for this Premier League star. While his apology may be sincere, continued recklessness runs the risk of this clouding his Chelsea career. If he really wants to begin rebuilding that trust, now is the time he must prove through consistency that lesson in responsibility on and off the pitch. His talent is worth better headlines than these.
