Joao Pedro shares what he told Moises Caicedo during Chelsea's victory at Tottenham

Joao Pedro scored the match-winning goal to beat Tottenham this weekend, but he had a major helping hand from teammate Moises Caicedo.

The Blues enjoyed their annual away fixture at Spurs, recording a 1-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In fact, it’s now five straight wins against their London rivals.

Joao Pedro, 24, scored the first-half goal for the visitors to earn them three points on the road, which temporarily moves them up to fourth in the Premier League table. It was Moises Caicedo who created and made the goal happen, though. After applying high pressure and recovering possession, he set up the chance for the goalscorer.

Jamie Carragher hailed Caicedo’s brilliance for Pedro’s goal, describing him as an “absolute monster” in the midfield.

Joao Pedro hailed Moises Caicedo after Chelsea beat Tottenham

In his post-match interview, Pedro delivered high praise of Caicedo, thanking him for his assist. In fact, the Chelsea forward told him at half-time he needs to invite him for dinner.

When discussing his winning goal, Pedro said via the Premier League’s official website (7:42pm, 1 November): “Moises, everyone knows, he’s a top, top player. It’s a pleasure to play with him. And when he passed to me on the pitch, at half-time I said to him ‘I need to invite you to dinner!’ Just want to say thank you to him, thank you to the team for support.”

Even though there were so many impressive individual displays against Spurs, Caicedo really stood out yet again with his contribution.

Caicedo, who earned praise from Jason Cundy for his latest Chelsea performance, does a bit of everything on the football pitch. The central midfielder appears to be getting better and better, too.

If he carries on at this rate, he’s going to be on the shortlist for the Premier League Player of the Season.

Moises Caicedo is the dream teammate

We’re convinced that Pedro isn’t the only Chelsea player who owes Caicedo a dinner.

At the moment, Caicedo is operating at a different level, contributing in every area. Without injured star Cole Palmer, he’s head and shoulders the best player at Stamford Bridge right now.

Most importantly, he continues to evolve as a footballer, scoring four goals and providing one assist across all competitions so far this season.

If he’s given the licence to roam about the pitch, he can win the ball back and really hurt the opponents.
