Whether or not the headline proves true will become apparent in two months’ time. We’ve been here so many times with several of [West Ham’s](https://www.claretandhugh.info/potters-brave-new-world-rodriguez-upgrade-on-a-free/) senior players, who don’t get picked but won’t leave – claiming they ‘want to compete for the shirt’ but actually meaning they’d rather stay on the payroll and hang around collecting their millionaire pay packet which West Ham were daft enough to agree to pay them.
However today’s more optimistic report from German news outlet [fussballeuropa.com](https://www.fussballeuropa.com/news/exklusiv-guido-rodriguez-will-west-ham-united-im-winter-verlassen-2025-10) suggests **Guido Rodriguez** – for one- has made his mind up that you can have too much of a good thing and he really will quit West Ham in the next window. The problem has been – in previous transfer windows – that his mega-money salary is too high for any of the leagues he wanted to move to – Mexico, Argentina, Spain – none could come close to his reported £90k a week.
But the German news site claims today:
--------------------------------------
_“Rodríguez receives a net salary of three million euros. An income that not every club can and wants to afford. The Argentine world champion of 2022 wants to make another attempt to leave West Ham in January.”_
Which, as always, will depend upon his salary demands. Simples: If he’s prepared to change his stance from last summer, of course he can get a move and find regular first team football awaits for perhaps 20% of his €3 million a year. With his contract expiring in the summer, it could just prove too tempting to sit it out at West Ham between now and June and pick up the €1.5 million. And who can blame him. Would any of us do anything any different?
