Sean Dyche may be less than two weeks into his Nottingham Forest tenure, but he insists he has already seen "clear signs" of progress from his new squad.
Forest were on the verge of completing an excellent comeback against Manchester United at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon, but a late Amad Diallo equaliser forced the Reds to settle for a point.
Though the circumstances were disappointing, and poor fortune played a significant factor, a draw against the Red Devils was a world away from last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
Dyche knows better than anyone the progress that his squad are making already, and insisted after the game that there are "clear signs" of progress visible.
"I've seen a very good response," he said. "I think the players know we've already started our education on the physical side, for my way of working, to be clear again.
"The facts, the stats, looking at some of their performances, but also some of the really good stuff, I think there's some talent here, and I think the basis to work from is good.
"We've still got injuries, but when those players come back as well, it's a big squad and it's got some knowledge and some talent, with some newness with the younger players.
"Whatever the mix is, you've got to win games; that's the biggest challenge. We've got to change that.
"And we've already spoken about the stats from the past; clean sheets, goals scored.
"So it's a big job, it's not just like 'Oh, there you go, go and crack on,' it's not like that, it's a very big job.
"But the signs are very, very clear, I think, with two out of the three performances, certainly today and certainly against Porto.
"There's a group that's willing to work, to place as well, because we want to find that balance, and also to fight for the club and for the badge, and I think there've been good signs in that."
