Frank Ilett, known as The United Strand, has reacted to Manchester United's draw

Viral Manchester United fan Frank Ilett, also known as ‘The United Strand’, shared his ‘heartbreak’ as the winning streak came to an end.

Ruben Amorim’s side were unable to beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday as the Red Devils took the lead in the first-half but had to come from behind to salvage a draw late in the second-half.

United could have claimed all three points at the death as Amad Diallo, whose wonder strike brought the scores back level to 2-2, saw an effort cleared off the line deep into added time.

The result means that their three match winning streak has come to an end, which is doubly bad news for United fan Frank, who must now start the count all over again.

Frank has gone viral after vowing not to cut his hair until United win five games in a row. He started the challenge over a year ago, and the three match winning run is the closest he has come so far to getting a trim.

Manchester United could only draw against Nottingham Forest

Following the draw, Frank took to social media to give his reaction to the game, saying: “I so thought we had that, even right at the end, Amad’s shot cleared off the line. I genuinely felt sick.

“I’m not going to lie, I do feel completely heartbroken by today, but of course I have already been looking at the next possible haircut date and to be honest I do feel quite optimistic.

“The next time it could happen is December 8 after the Wolves game, which will be day 429.”

Frank went on to share his optimism that United can help him get a clean cut in time for Christmas, with the Reds’ next five games against Tottenham, Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Sport in April, Frank said: “I didn’t expect it to go on for this long. I thought it was just a fun thing to do for a few months while there was a bad patch for Manchester United but it's been going on for a lot longer than expected. I have no idea when it's going to end now but I’m committed to the end.”

He added: “I should have probably gone with three, but I thought that was too easy, stupidly, at the start.

“I'm committed now, it’s too big now to stop. I have to go till the end – I’m committed, I’ll keep going even if it takes seasons and seasons.”
