Jaire Alexander trade forces Howie Roseman to face music Eagles fans listened to

If there is one thing Philadelphia Eagles fans have learned about general manager Howie Roseman, it's that he knows how to make a trade out of nowhere.

Roseman has now caught the fan base by surprise twice with big moves in the secondary. He first made a trade with the New York Jets to acquire cornerback Michael Carter II. Roseman wasn't done there as he also executed a trade with the Baltimore Ravens to receive cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Carter and Alexander haven't had strong 2025 campaigns with their teams, but they have a chance to turn things around. They both could end up either starting or getting playing time in some kind of capacity, but Roseman might have to make some realizations about his past and accept responsibility.

Roseman's botched CB job now leaves Eagles with obvious next move

During the offseason, Roseman released cornerback Darius Slay and let James Bradberry, Avonte Maddox, and Isaiah Rodgers go. That led to him reacting by signing Adoree' Jackson and pushing young cornerback Kelee Ringo to compete for the starting job.

Jackson and Ringo have both struggled in the starting lineup at CB2. They have played badly enough that the Eagles not only traded for Alexander and Carter this past week, but still have Jakorian Bennett they traded for in the preseason.

The first realization that Roseman has to face is that he screwed up at cornerback. He should have either kept Slay or Rodgers on, but he has also made three trades to try to fix the issues; the results, while incomplete, seem to be more band aids than long-term solutions.

Roseman is now left with one choice he has to make: does he trade Adoree' Jackson or Kelee Ringo to another team? Ringo has been predicted as a guy who gets sent elsewhere since he's younger, but Jackson could also be an option.

Regardless of what happens, this will go down as one of the worst mistakes Roseman has made in his tenure as Eagles general manager. Now he has to hope that either Carter or Alexander can work out.
