Chelsea are being linked with a move with an experienced midfielder who still has his best years ahead of him.

Chelsea are being linked with a superstar midfielder signing ahead of the January transfer window. The Blues have taken up an interesting transfer strategy over the last couple of years, buying up the best young talent from around the world.

The Blues have amassed a wealth of young talent, and it seems as though their plan is not necessarily to win the Premier League title now, but to dominate in years to come. Youth can offer so much, but the reality of the current Chelsea squad is that mistakes are inevitable as the young players continue to develop on the fly.

What’s interesting now is that Chelsea could find themselves going out to buy a read-made piece - or something closer to it - if they reach a place where they feel close to being able to chase genuine success. As part of that process, it’s likely Chelsea are always assessing possible new signings, and according to reports in Spain, they have their eyes on a ready-made piece who has been impressing in La Liga over the last couple of years.

Fichajes claim Chelsea are willing to offer as much as £66million to sign Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga. There is no reason to think Real Madrid will cash in on Camavinga at this point, with the midfielder under contract until 2029 and still a key part of Xabi Alonso’s plans.

It’s reported that it would take £70million for Los Blancos to even listen to offers, but with the midfielder still only 22 years of age, it’s not likely they will sell in any case. Chelsea are still credited with an interest, and they are said to be prepared to make the offer to add top-level depth to their midfield alongside Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Camavinga is a reliable operator

Camavinga has been a reliable player for Real Madrid over the last couple of seasons, making 119 league appearances. He struggled with an ankle injury earlier in the season, but he has started the last two La Liga games for Real Madrid.

Back in April, now former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said of Camavinga: “He’s a player with extraordinary qualities. He can play anywhere on the pitch, he’s special. He can play as a midfielder, or as a defender”

Only last week, current Los Blancos boss Alonso said: “We played with players who have the dynamism to play in different positions. We needed to dominate the midfield and not be weak in that area. The whole team played a great game, but Eduardo (Camavinga) had a tremendous game.”
