Sean Dyche may still be getting to grips with the task at Nottingham Forest but he will know the January transfer window is not too far away.
The Reds had a busy summer as they oversaw a significant number of incomings and outgoings. It should make for a quieter January, but Dyche may well have his own ideas of potential business by that point.
In the meantime, the Forest head coach will be aiming to get the best out of the squad he has at his disposal. Next up is a trip to Austria to take on Sturm Graz in the Europa League.
Despite the new year still being a few weeks away, there has been plenty of transfer talk. Below, NottinghamshireLive takes a look at the latest Reds news and rumours.
Striker eyed
Goals have been difficult to come by for Forest for much of this season. Amid their struggles up front, it is said they are eyeing up potential attacking reinforcements.
According to Caught Offside, the Reds are keen on Porto striker Samu Aghehowa. It is said the club have been monitoring the 21-year-old and have scouted him in action.
It seems they are not the only ones interested in the front man, however. The Spaniard, who started against Forest when they beat Porto at the City Ground in the Europa League last week, is viewed as a bright prospect and has attracted plenty of admirers.
Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Newcastle United are also being linked with the player who reportedly has a €100 million (£88m) release clause in his contract. Spurs appear to have shown the most interest as they are said to have discussed the possibility of a loan with an option to buy.

Academy talent
The Nigel Doughty Academy has produced plenty of talent over the years. And it seems midfielder Jamie McDonnell’s name can be added to that list.
The Forest youngster has been a regular starter for Mansfield Town as he impresses on loan. And according to Stags boss Nigel Clough, the 21-year-old’s old-school qualities make him stand out.
"He's a throwback, in terms of he likes tackling and heading," Reds great Clough told the BBC. "Academies these days don't produce many players like that. They produce wonderfully technical and gifted players at times, but it's almost a forgotten art that you still have to get the ball back and still have to tackle and head it. I just love his whole attitude towards playing football."
It is a style McDonnell is happy to embrace. "Call me a throwback, I don't mind it,” he quipped.
Right-back rejection
The Reds looked at a number of options in their efforts to strengthen their full-back ranks before the summer window closed. It might be an area they decide to look at again come January.
According to Spanish publication AS (via Sport Witness), Forest tried to recruit Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez at one stage back in the summer. The 22-year-old reportedly had the opportunity to switch to the City Ground and was also targeted by Napoli and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The latter, apparently, reached an agreement with Sevilla but not with the player. It is claimed both the Reds and Wolves made ‘a significant financial offer’ in an attempt to lure Sanchez to the Premier League but he wanted to remain in Spain.
However, he finds himself down the pecking order with the La Liga outfit for the right-back spot. With that in mind, it is claimed a January departure is ‘not out of the question’.
