One of the most decorated defensive players of the modern era, linebacker Bobby Wagner has cemented his legacy as a first-ballot Hall of Famer, with a career defined by unprecedented longevity and elite production.
The Super Bowl XLVIII champion and 10-time Pro Bowl selection has amassed an impressive résumé, including an NFL All-Decade Team nod and 11 All-Pro selections, six of which were First-Team honors.
Now in his 14th professional season, Wagner continues to defy age, recently joining London Fletcher as one of only two players in NFL history to record 100 or more tackles in at least 13 consecutive seasons, solidifying his place among the league's all-time greats.
Here’s a detailed look at Wagner’s career and how he established himself as one of the best linebackers in recent NFL history.

Bobby Wagner career timeline
Seattle Seahawks (2012-2021)
Wagner began his professional journey with the Seahawks, who selected him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He immediately became a cornerstone of the defense, quickly establishing himself as a vital part of the unit famously known as the "Legion of Boom."
In just his second season, Wagner helped lead the Seahawks to a dominant 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. During his decade in Seattle, he recorded over 100 tackles in 10 consecutive seasons, setting a franchise record.
During his first stint with the Seahawks, Wagner was recognized as one of the league's premier linebackers, earning eight consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2014 to 2021 and six First-Team All-Pro honors. His consistent high-level play led to his inclusion on the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team and to becoming the Seahawks' all-time leader in tackles, amassing 1,383 total tackles during this period. He also contributed five sacks in 2013 and recorded a memorable 98-yard interception return for a touchdown during the 2018 season.
Los Angeles Rams (2022)
Wagner signed a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022. Despite the Rams struggling that season, he delivered an outstanding individual performance, starting all 17 games. Wagner led the team with 140 combined tackles and achieved a career-high 6.0 sacks, along with two interceptions. For his continued elite production, he earned Second-Team Associated Press All-Pro honors in his only year with the Rams.
Following the 2022 season, Wagner and the Rams mutually agreed to part ways, making him a free agent after just one year of his five-year contract. The deal’s financial structure allowed the Rams to exit the contract after the first year.
Seattle Seahawks (2023)
After spending one year in Los Angeles, Wagner returned to Seattle in 2023, adding to what was already a historic Seahawks legacy.
That season, he led the NFL in total tackles with 183 stops, tying a Seahawks single-season record, and earned Pro Bowl and Second-Team All-Pro honors.

Washington Commanders (2024-2025)
Wagner signed a one-year deal with the Commanders in 2024. In his first season in Washington, the ageless linebacker started all 17 games, recording 132 total tackles and 2.0 sacks. This extended his streak of reaching at least 100 tackles in every season of his career. His play helped shift the team’s culture, and he earned Second-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors for the 2024 season.
The Commanders re-signed Wagner for the 2025 season to another one-year deal, worth up to $9.5 million. At 35 years old and in his 14th season, he continues to be remarkably productive and a top performer. He has already added a historical highlight this season: by recording an interception off Patrick Mahomes, Wagner became the only player in NFL history to have intercepted passes from both Tom Brady and Mahomes over the course of his career.
