Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford’s stock at Manchester United has taken a nosedive as we reach one year of Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
This time last year, both were the first names on the teamsheet, and one year on, neither is at Man Utd, and fans are happy to see the back of both.
Marcus Rashford is shining at Barcelona, although the loss in the latest El Clásico was a blow, while Alejandro Garnacho scored for Chelsea recently, but overall, it’s been a nightmare.

Now, Garnacho has been accused of doing the exact same thing as Rashford after leaving Old Trafford, and it paints neither in a good light.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho decoded
Garnacho and Rashford used to be rivals for the same position at Man Utd, but by the end of their time here, they almost became allies in the face of Amorim.
Garnacho sporting a Rashford Aston Villa shirt in a tense summer window was the final straw for many Man Utd fans.
Now, even though Garnacho isn’t having the same impact on Chelsea as Rashford is on Barcelona, Troy Deeney has accused the Argentinian of doing what Rashford does after leaving the club.
Rashford recently gave a series of interviews when he was on a high, especially with another dominant UCL performance.

However, when his team lost against Real Madrid, Rashford went radio silent, and that’s not something that sat right with Deeney.
Speaking on The Football Exchange podcast, Deney said that doing PR runs on a high then vanishing during lows instead of fronting up is something that Garnacho and Rashford have in common.
He said: “And I just think now with Garnacho, and I say this a lot about Rashford. Rashford scores two goals in a 6-1 win against [Olympiacos], and his PR team is like, ‘I just want to stay at Barcelona. It’s great. It’s fantastic.’
“Just a quick one. They lost to Real Madrid at the weekend. Anyone seen a Rashford interview? Anyone?
“Absolutely not. Because the second they win, the PR cycles are full-fledged. How good I am, look at this. England are going to get the best version of me. Blah blah blah. And I keep saying this thing, and I say it all the time. When someone shows you who they are over time, believe them.”
Garnacho has less hiding space than Rashford
Deeney makes an interesting point regarding Rashford, and it’s very much true that he didn’t front up when the team was losing at Old Trafford either.
However, at least for now, his performances are speaking for themselves to an extent at Barcelona, something which can’t be said for Garnacho.
Garnacho is struggling for games, his reputation among fans is not the best, and even his first goal for the club came in a loss where he was subbed off at the hour mark.
As such, he has less hiding space than Rashford, who is performing on the pitch and doesn’t owe anybody an interview after one poor game.
Garnacho, on the other hand, needs to sort himself out soon, because his Chelsea move can quickly derail his career which once seemed destined for greatness.
