We could see the old Paqueta today vs Newcastle

2nd November 2025 Daniel Luker (@danielluker_)

Lucas Paqueta’s atrocious form has been one of the biggest topics of debate at West Ham over the past few weeks, but he could be back to top form soon.

The Brazilian started the campaign well under Graham Potter, in fact, he was probably the only player that improved under Potter

But, unsuprsingly, that probably wasn’t down to the Englishman, the Brazilian slightly improved when he knew he was going to win his court case.

However, despite improvement over a period of a fee weeks, he’s gone back to his absolutely woeful performances, not even just bad for his standards, he’s been playing terribly in general.

However, probably somewhat deludedly, I can’t give up on Paqueta because he just has so much ability and talent, I’d put him behind just Payet and Arnautovic in terms of players with natural talent West Ham have had over the past ten years.

What is giving me and some Hammers fans what will probably be false hope is that all proceedings regarding Paqueta’s case and investigations sre now settled, the FA were made to pay 90% of the legal costs.

This should get the weight of the case off of Lucas’ shoulders completely. On social media, he spoke of his relief and happiness than he won the case, and he can now go back to his dream of playing football in the Premier League.

I hope with this weight off his shoulders he can get back to his best and be the player we know he can be, and the player we started to see before the allegations came around just over two years ago.

We need Paqueta at the top of his game for this relegation dogfight, if he becomes the player we all expected when we signed him, there is absolutely no chance this team gets relegated, he can be that good.

Lets hope that form starts straight away and he’s on fire this afternoon vs Newcastle, because we desperately need a result.
