Tottenham recently fell short against Chelsea adding to the mounting pressure on Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank is under increasing scrutiny after his side suffered their third Premier League home defeat of the season. Tottenham fell short against local rivals Chelsea, continuing their poor run of form in recent weeks. The Lilywhites looked far from their best, and the loud boos echoing around N17 made it clear that the Danish tactician still has work to do before winning over the fans.
The North London club failed to assert themselves against Chelsea’s relatively inexperienced squad and were comprehensively outplayed in every area of the pitch. Tottenham struggled to create chances in the final third, a recurring issue under Thomas Frank this season. The attack has lacked sharpness, with the team failing to produce consistent goal-scoring opportunities at home week after week.

Thomas Frank is still enduring a good spell at Tottenham despite a recent loss to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Frank’s pragmatic approach is also starting to create problems for his side. Tottenham appear overly dependent on set pieces, which has hindered their ability to create chances from open play. However, despite their struggles at home, the Lilywhites remain in a respectable position in the league, and not everything has gone wrong so far this campaign.
Thomas Frank has still endured a good start at Tottenham this season
Despite the London derby defeat, it is fair to say that Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are still in contention near the top end of the Premier League table. The Lilywhites have won five of their opening ten matches, drawing two and losing three. These numbers show that they are heading in the right direction, even if their performances do not always reflect that progress.
Sharing his thoughts on Tottenham’s season, Daniel Sturridge defended Frank’s work at N17. Speaking to Sky Sports (via X), Sturridge said,
“Tonight, we can say that it didn’t work. But they’re 3rd in the Premier League. So, do you want results or do you want to look good on the pitch and lose? They’ve brought a manager in who was brilliant in the Premier League.”
"But they're third in the Premier League" 🤷♂️

The ex-Liverpool star added,
“He’s come in to a club where last season they weren’t great at all, and he’s managed to get results with them so far. He’s done a great job so far.”
Sturridge pointed out that Spurs remain in a strong position to compete for European qualification despite their home defeat to Chelsea. He praised Frank for quickly transforming the Lilywhites into a more competitive side, something that was lacking under Ange Postecoglou last season. Frank has managed to deliver positive results on several occasions, which underlines the solid start he has made at N17.
While it is true that Spurs are still in a promising league position, their performances have not been consistently convincing. Too often, the team has struggled to control matches, with Frank’s men relying on moments rather than sustained dominance to secure results. This pragmatic approach has not gone down well with section of the fanbase, who expect a more dynamic and attacking brand of football.
The responsibility now lies with Thomas Frank to turn things around and address the underlying issues before it is too late. He must build on last season’s Europa League success and focus on making the necessary improvements before the November international break arrives.
