Bills, Cowboys, Colts competing for same linebacker based on latest trade rumor

The Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts are all reportedly in the hunt for the same linebacker ahead of the trade deadline.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, that player is Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson, who is drawing interest from all three teams.

"Another Cincinnati defensive standout whose name has come up as the deadline approaches is linebacker Logan Wilson, who requested to be traded less than two weeks ago," Schefter reported on Saturday night.

"Teams that have expressed some interest in Wilson are the Bills, Cowboys and Colts, sources told ESPN. Wilson also is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Bears because of a calf injury," Schefter added.

A former third-round pick of the Bengals in 2020, Wilson became a full-time starter in 2021 and was a key member of Cincinnati's defense for multiple years.

However, Wilson's role has been greatly reduced in recent weeks, as he's played just 58 snaps the last three games amid his struggles at the position.

In his place, the Bengals have deployed rookie Barrett Carter, which led to Wilson requesting a trade and puts him firmly in the sights of linebacker-needy teams like the Colts, Cowboys and Bills.

Indianapolis doesn't have a dire need at the position, but the 7-1 Colts could use more depth behind Germaine Pratt and Zaire Franklin. Wilson has a connection to defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo from their days in Cincinnati.

The Bills have seen Matt Milano in and out of the lineup all season long because of injury, which has forced them to rely on Shaq Thompson, who is now hurt. Safe to say, Buffalo could use another option at linebacker.

The Cowboys are looking for help all over the defense. The impending return of DeMarvion Overshown will be a huge help, but that isn't coming this week and clearly Dallas feels like it needs another player to fortify the linebacker spot.

Cincinnati's willingness to sell off parts could hinge on what happens on Sunday versus the Chicago Bears. A win improves the Bengals to 4-5, while a loss drops them to 3-6 and would amount to a huge hit to Cincinnati's already grim playoff chances, which could make them more inclined to sell.
