The Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills are both in the market for a wide receiver ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline, according to reports.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports on Sunday that the Steelers "remain interested in a WR" and The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Sunday that both Buffalo and Pittsburgh are making calls for a wide receiver.
But, as has been widely reported, the asking prices for three of the biggest names who could be on the market remain high.
Rapoport reports that New Orleans Saints wide receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed "require a high price" and "perhaps too high for what acquiring teams would want to pay."
Russini reported that the Las Vegas Raiders have "set a high price" for Jakobi Meyers and Rapoport adds that, while the Raiders "remain open" to dealing Meyers, there is no guarantee that happens.
"The Las Vegas Raiders remain open to dealing wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, but given that he is on an expiring contract and Las Vegas wants to finish the season strong, it remains up in the air if it will happen," Rapoport wrote.
Now, it's very possible said asking prices will come down in the next few days, but right now the Bills' and Steelers' prospects of landing one of those three wide receivers don't look good.
Of course, the Raiders and Saints are terrible this season and should be looking to sell off parts to get more draft capital. They should be especially keen on trading players in the final years of their deals, like Shaheed and Meyers.
All signs point to the Saints actually extending Olave rather than trading him and he appears to be the least likely to get moved.
He is no doubt the most attractive option of the three, though, thanks to his age, past production and contract, which runs through 2026.
Rumors continue to suggest that Shaheed and Meyers, the latter of whom requested a trade after not getting a contract extension, could get traded, but that's not going to happen if the Saints and Raiders are asking for a king's ransom in return.
The high end of what teams are willing to pay for Shaheed and Meyers could be fifth- and fourth-round picks, respectively.
If the Saints and Raiders are asking for anything more than that (it appears they are), no team is going to bite.
