Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed that he WON'T celebrate if he scores against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday. Real Madrid star Alexander-Arnold is poised to face his boyhood club in the two teams' Champions League clash just five months after his emotional departure.
The England international left Liverpool after two decades in July, as Real agreed to pay £8.4million in order to sign him before the Club World Cup. Alexander-Arnold, 27, was nearing the end of his contract and had rejected the chance to sign a new deal on Merseyside.
Now the right-back is preparing to come up against his old team-mates and play in front of a crowd that booed him after his exit was confirmed shortly before the end of last season. In an interview with Prime Video Sport, Alexander-Arnold was asked for his stance on one of football's most divisive topics - celebrating against your former club.
"If I was to score, then I wouldn't celebrate. No," the defender replied. Alexander-Arnold is yet to open his account for Real, having been restricted to only five appearances this season due to injury.
The 27-year-old has watched Real's last two matches from the bench after recovering from a hamstring problem. Alexander-Arnold will be hoping to get the nod from manager Xabi Alonso, another ex-Liverpool star, and he's braced for a 'very difficult game'.
"When the draw was announced, everyone knew it was going to happen, it was destined for that fixture to come," he added. "It will be a very difficult game, the reception and atmosphere will contribute to that.
"Although they (Liverpool) haven't had the results of late, they're still a top footballing team, and nobody here thinks it's going to be an easy game."

On how he expects to be received by the crowd at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold continued: "Whatever way I'm received, is the decision of the fans. I'll always love the club, I'll always be a fan of the club.
"I'll always be thankful for the opportunities and the things we achieved together… they'll live with me forever. No matter what, my feeling won't change towards Liverpool. I've got memories there that will last me a lifetime, and no matter how I'm received, that won't change."
Real are currently three points ahead of Liverpool in the Champions League table after a perfect start in the competition.
