Why Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks aren't playing tonight vs. Spurs

The Phoenix Suns have listed both Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks as out ahead of tonight’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.

Green will miss his seventh consecutive game to start the 2025-26 season as he continues to rehab a right hamstring strain.

Brooks will sit out his fourth straight game while recovering from a core muscle strain. His last appearance came during Phoenix’s 111-133 loss to the Denver Nuggets, where he recorded 15 points, three rebounds, and four steals in 31 minutes. However, he struggled from the field, shooting just 33% overall and 23.1% from three.

Phoenix’s start to the season has been anything but ideal, losing two of their last three games. Devin Booker has been forced to shoulder much of the offensive load, averaging 30.3 points and 6.5 assists per game. Acting as the team’s primary ball-handler and point guard, Booker has received only limited help in recent outings. While Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale have provided flashes of production, the Suns are still searching for consistent secondary scoring.

The team continues to await Jalen Green’s debut, as the young guard re-aggravated his hamstring injury during the preseason. His absence has left Suns fans wondering what the offense will look like once he joins the lineup. As it stands, Phoenix ranks 17th in points per game (116.3).

Tonight, they’ll face a tough test against Victor Wembanyama and the undefeated San Antonio Spurs. Off to a franchise-best 5-0 start, the Spurs have found their rhythm even without De’Aaron Fox and Luke Kornet. San Antonio will look to keep their momentum rolling, while the Suns hope to avoid falling to 2-5 on the season.
