Why Romeo Doubs' Guardian Cap helmet is even more unusual in Week 9 for Packers

Romeo Doubs' helmet always looks a bit different than his teammates.

That's because the Green Bay Packers' wide receiver is wearing a Guardian Cap.

It's a soft-shell protective covering that goes over the actual helmet. It's meant to help prevent head injuries.

It also has an appearance that makes it seem like the player is wearing a jumbo helmet.

On Sunday in Week 9, Doubs' helmet will be more different than usual. It'll have a leather appearance.

Why is Romeo Doubs' Guardian Cap different in Week 9?

This week, the Packers are wearing throwback uniforms, throwing it all the way back to 1923.

With that comes a helmet change for the Packers. Their regular helmets are designed to look like the classic leather helmets worn way back in the day.

The Packers have altered their Guardian Caps for the occasion, too.

Doubs' Guardian Cap was teased on social media on Wednesday night, and it basically looks like his own leather helmet.

Doubs began wearing his Guardian Cap in 2024 after returning from concussion. After the absence, he surely just wanted to be back on the field and not worry quite as much about re-injury.

And that choice has led Doubs to this awesome fashion statement. Safety first.
