Manchester City will go second in the Premier League table if they beat the current occupants at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon. The Blues are eighth in the Premier League after the weekend’s result, nine points behind leaders Arsenal and desperately need the points to keep the pressure on the Gunners.
Bournemouth are this season’s surprise package, having lost just one of their nine Premier League games this season, with some tipping the Cherries to make progress into European competition. They have pulled off some decent victories so far and are unbeaten in the Premier League since losing 4-2 at Liverpool on the opning day of the season.
This could be a very tough match for the Blues and they will have to be strong and steady if they they want the three points to stay in Manchester.
As usual, our team are here to give us their views and predictions on the match. Here’s what we think this week.
City have an exquisite record at the Etihad against today’s opponent. This is the best Bournemouth side they’ll have ever come up against, but I back City to get a win over the line.
When was the last time City hosted Bournemouth and the Cherries were the club higher in the table? I certainly don’t remember. Anyway, City at home should have an advantage. A few non-Haaland goals should do the trick.
Tough match and City have won all but one of their matches against the Cherries (I still have memories of that 3-3 drawn in 1989). They will beat us one day in Manchester, but I don’t think it will be today.
What happened against Swansea
It was a scare at first, but City made it through to the quarter-final and will face Brentford at home for a place in the last four. Our team were so very close too. Will was one City goal away from a perfect score and Pete was gutted that Swansea got a goal. Thomas didn’t get a perfect score, but he did get the right number of goals with his 4-0 prediction and pick up some extra points.
I think Saul was giving us a chance to catch up!
