CINCINNATI (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER) -Bob Trumpy, an original Cincinnati Bengal who enjoyed a 30-year TV and radio career after playing for the team, has died. He was 80 years old, according to our media partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer.
In 2014, Trumpy received the annual Pete Rozelle Radio and Television Award for “long-time exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football.”
Trumpy was named to four Pro Bowls. He was considered a pioneer as a pass-catching tight end.
Trumpy said years ago that being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame “never crossed his mind.”
As a player, Trumpy spent his entire career with the Bengals, from 1968 to 1977. He was named to four Pro Bowls, and was considered a pioneer as a pass-catching tight end.

Trumpy was selected by the Bengals in the 12th round of the 1968 draft. A 6-foot-6, 228-pound athlete with a basketball background, Trumpy went to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons and earned All-Pro honors in 1969.
