Cleveland Browns Linked to Deion Sanders as Next Head Coach

The Cleveland Browns are in a tough position looking ahead at the future. Kevin Stefanski has been unable to turn the franchise into a winner and the product on the field has continually gotten worse. Many believe that the Browns should consider moving on from their head coach and bringing in a new voice to lead the way.

Should Stefanski get fired, the question becomes, who could replace him?

Around the NFL, there are plenty of intriguing coordinators who are poised to make the leap to becoming head coaches. There are also some options in the college football world who could make sense.

That being said, the idea of bringing Deion Sanders to Cleveland has not been a very popular option. Could it actually ben an option?

Morgan Moriarty of The Sporting News took a look at Sanders’ potential future. Sanders was mentioned as a possible fit for the Browns.

“This one is another hypothetical, given that the Browns are currently coached by Kevin Stefanski,” Moriarty wrote. “But the coach’s 42-50 overall record in Cleveland, paired with the team’s 2-6 start in 2025 means the job could come open in the coming months. While Sanders has said previously that he doesn’t think he’d be able to coach in today’s NFL, he could reunite with his son Shedeur in the NFL.”

His son, Shedeur Sanders, is currently the backup quarterback for Cleveland. Dillon Gabriel has been the starter over the last four games, but fans have been hoping to see Sanders take over as the starter.

If the Browns were to hire Deion to be their next head coach, his son would likely become the new starter. They had a lot of success together in college, but the NFL is a different beast.

Sanders has compiled a career college coaching record of 43-24. With Colorado, he has gone 16-18, including 3-6 so far this season.

More than likely, Cleveland will not be hiring Sanders as its next head coach. He can’t be completely ruled out at this point in time, but it would be an absolute shock if the Browns rolled with him as their lead man after Stefanski.

It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for both Cleveland Sanders.
