(Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images)](https://football-italia.net/akanji-drops-transfer-hint-as-inter-consider/) Manuel Akanji has stayed coy on his future, telling the press “We’ll see what happens” after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win at Verona on Sunday, but confirmed that the club “seem happy” with him as Inter consider whether or not to exercise their option-to-buy this season.
Akanji signed for Inter on deadline day, in a loan move from Premier League giants Manchester City. He has settled in well at the Nerazzurri and is Cristian Chivu’s most used centre-back so far this season.

The move becomes permanent upon certain conditions but Inter also have an option to buy the defender.
Akanji coy on future but hints he’s happy at Inter
Speaking after the Verona win, via CalcioMercato, Akanji said “We’ll see what happens at the end of the season. I’m trying to do my best on the pitch, and in the end we’ll see if Inter decide to keep me or not: the decision is up to them. They seem happy, but we’ll see what happens. For now, there’s nothing.”
The Swiss international also discussed adapting to life in Serie A.

“The league is as competitive as I expected. I’m trying to do my best within my abilities to help the team. I like the club, the coach, the staff – I’m very happy here.”
It seems likely that Akanji’s stay in Lombardy will become a permanent one. Experienced defenders Francesco Acerbi, Stefan De Vrij and Matteo Darmian are reportedly set to leave the club next summer when their contracts expire.
