Manchester City climbed to second in the Premier League table following a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday evening.

An Erling Haaland brace and a Nico O’Reilly strike were enough to overturn Tyler Adams’ first-half goal, securing Pep Guardiola’s side a hard-fought three points at the Etihad Stadium.

The result moves City to within six points of league leaders Arsenal, while Liverpool sit one point behind in third. Bournemouth, meanwhile, drop to fourth as Andoni Iraola suffers just his second league defeat of the season.

City have found themselves in a similar position before. During the 2022/23 campaign, they overturned an eight-point deficit to pip Arsenal to the title, and with all three expected title rivals now occupying the top spots, the race looks set to heat up once again.
