Our nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions was ended at Villa Park last weekend, but we returned to winning ways in the league at the Etihad Stadium thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland and a smart finish from O’Reilly, following our midweek Carabao Cup success against Swansea.

The victory propels us up to second place in the Premier League table, six points behind league-leaders Arsenal.

Speaking to City Studios after the game, O’Reilly expressed his delight at the manner of City’s response to last week’s setback.

“Very good. Everyone’s happy to get the three points and to get the win. We needed it after last week.

“So yeah I thought we bounced back well. They’re a very good team. We knew that before the game coming into it. Fair play to them.

“We knew they were going to do that [high line]. We knew there were spaces there. I think we exploited them well.

“We took our chances, we had a few more chances we could have taken but yeah I thought we used that space well.

O’Reilly also spoke about his goal, touched on how comfortable he feels now in the first team and looked ahead to two big fixtures coming up against Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.
