How will Buffalo Bills replace Taron Johnson vs. Chiefs? Two DBs stepping into crucial role

Taron Johnson is the latest member of the Buffalo Bills to be bitten by the injury bug.

The Buffalo Bills’ nickel cornerback practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday this week before being listed as limited on Friday due to a groin injury. The injury was bad enough that Johnson was among the team’s inactives on Sunday.

The news should not come as a surprise, as Buffalo elevated cornerback Dane Jackson from their practice squad on Saturday. Jackson will serve as boundary cornerback depth while Cam Lewis and Ja’Marcus Ingram look to fill in for Johnson.

Here’s Buffalo’s full inactive list for Sunday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

CB Taron Johnson

DT DaQuan Jones

WR Joshua Palmer

LB Shaq Thompson

OL Chase Lundt

DE Landon Jackson

CB Brandon Codrington

The loss of Thompson is significant based on how well he has played this season, but Buffalo will have Terrel Bernard and Matt Milano back in the lineup on Sunday.

The Chiefs are down a few starters as well on Sunday. Starting running back Isiah Pacheco was ruled out on Friday with a knee injury, while offensive tackle Josh Simmons was ruled out due to personal reasons.

Kansas City’s full inactive list for today’s game:

RB Isiah Pacheco

OT Josh Simmons

CB Kristian Fulton

WR Jalen Royals

TE Jared Wiley

RB Elijah Mitchell

OL CJ Hanson
