Tonight, the 2025-26 San Antonio Spurs will try to become the first team in franchise history to start a season 6-0 when they take on the Phoenix Suns in Arizona. The Spurs had never started a season 5-0 until this season, while the Suns enter tonight’s affair with a record of 2-4.
San Antonio’s latest win was a 107-101 victory over the Miami Heat. Victor Wembanyama stayed hot, totaling 27 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and five blocked shots in 40 minutes. Second year guard Stephon Castle chipped in 21 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals in 35 minutes (see the complete final grades).
The Suns won their most recent game against the Utah Jazz, 118-96. Phoenix also won their first game of the season versus the Sacramento Kings, 120-116. Between those two games, the Suns lost four straight.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
The injury report isn’t getting any better for the Spurs. Recently, the Silver and Black has been without five players — and those same five players remain on the sidelines.
De’Aaron Fox is out with a hamstring injury, Jeremy Sochan is out with a sprained wrist, Luke Kornet is out with a sprained ankle, Lindy Waters III is out following eye surgery and Kelly Olynyk is out following heel surgery.
The good news is that all five of the injured players have been able to return to practice. The Spurs haven’t announced their return dates but they all should be able to get back on the court relatively soon.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
Head coach Mitch Johnson will surely stick to the same starting five that has the team off to a franchise record 5-0 start. That lineup has Victor Wembanyama at center, Harrison Barnes and Julian Champagnie at the forward spots, and Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle at the guard spots.
Off the bench, the coaching staff has been using Keldon Johnson and rookie Dylan Harper primarily. Bismack Biyombo, Jordan McLaughlin and rookie Carter Bryant have also seen time in the rotation.
Betting Guide: Spurs at Suns
The Spurs are favored by 5.5 points and the over/under is 227.5 points. At this point, it’s impossible to bet against these Spurs. They haven’t lost a game going back to the beginning of preseason. For that reason, put your money on San Antonio winning by six or more points.
