Why Rashee Rice was suspended for first 6 games of Chiefs' season

The Kansas City Chiefs hit their groove slightly before Rashee Rice's return.

But getting their number one receiver back from suspension didn't hurt.

Rice has been on a roll since coming back, too, and he'll be a key part of what the Chiefs are doing in Week 9 when they take on the Buffalo Bills in a massive AFC clash.

Here's a quick look at why Rice didn't play for the season's first six weeks:

Why was Rashee Rice suspended for 6 games?

Rice was suspended for his involvement in an offseason crash.

The receiver was charged with speeding that caused a chain-reaction crash that injured multiple people.

Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation.

The NFL deemed before the season began that that was worth a six-game absence for Rice.

Rice spoke to ESPN about the incident before this season:

"I learned just how valuable any opportunity and moment is. This right here, us being able to be on the field and be coached by Coach [Andy] Reid and have such a great quarterback [Patrick Mahomes], is honestly a gift, a blessing. I've completely changed. Honestly, you have to learn from things like that. I've taken advantage of being able to learn from something like that."

In Rice's first game back, he had seven catches for 42 yards and two TDs.

In his second game back, he had nine grabs for 93 yards and another touchdown.
