Mike Vrabel reveals message to Patriots after they hold on to beat Falcons

The Patriots improved to 7-2 after a 24-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

Things got dicy for New England after it allowed the Falcons to come back from a 14-point deficit. Had Parker Romo not missed the game-tying extra point in the fourth quarter, there’s no telling how the Week 9 game would have turned out.

Despite not being at their best but still coming out with a win, coach Mike Vrabel shared what his message was to the Patriots.

“Just get ready to go on the road,” he said after the game. “I understand that that’s how it goes in this league. Sometimes it’s tough, but don’t let anybody take the joy of what we do. Joy is authentic. Joy comes from these guys caring about each other, being happy for the guy next to him that made a play. Joy’s about what we do in here. And I think that they need to embrace that and be thankful for what they get to do and what I get to do.

“And we talked about when you get. Sometimes you get this taken away from you — whether you’re a player and you get cut or you’re a coach and you get fired and you get another opportunity, you want to try to make the most of it and enjoy it."

Even though the Patriots emerged victorious, Vrabel knows there’s still plenty to clean up and learn from.

“This is a funny league,” he said. “We’re gonna learn from winning, so that we don’t have to learn from losing.”

The Patriots now go on the road to take on the 6-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who will be coming off their bye week.
