CJ Stroud shares positive injury update after scary incident in Texans-Broncos game

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud sounded the alarms within the fans on Sunday, when Denver Broncos defensive back Kris Abrams-Draine hit him when the third-year player tried to get a first down with a scramble.

Stroud was initially listed as questionable to return. His status was downgraded to out for the rest of the game, as the player suffered a concussion.

The CJ Stroud Foundation offered an update on the player. It shared a picture of the quarterback with his mother, along with a message thanking fans for their support.

“CJ is ok, thank you for your prayers,” the Instagram story reads.

David Mills replaced Stroud for the rest of the game. At the time of his exit, Stroud was 6 of 10 for 79 yards, while the Texans led the game 3-0. Houston appeared to be on the way to an upset win over the Broncos until Sean Payton’s team rallied to snatch the victory in the fourth quarter.

Denver scored 11 unanswered points in the final period to get a close 18-15 win behind a Will Lutz’s 34-yard field goal.

Stroud suffered the second concussion of his NFL career after suffering the first in December 2023 in a duel against the New York Jets. The Texans will have to wait and see how the player evolves this week. Houston will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.
