Rumor mill churning as Seahawks approach trade deadline
The NFL trade deadline is two days away — arriving Tuesday at 1 p.m. Seattle time — and the rumor mill is running swiftly when it comes to the Seahawks.
If, sometimes, heading in conflicting directions.
Late Saturday night came a story from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that “teams have inquired to the Seattle Seahawks about the availability of standout linebacker Boye Mafe and former Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen,” according to sources.
The story went on to say that “Seattle hasn’t wanted to trade Mafe or Woolen, according to sources, but it will be interesting to see how aggressive another team might be ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.”
That came on the heels of a report from Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network on Thursday night that the Seahawks “are more likely to hang on to Woolen than to trade him” and, in fact, “have not given up hope that (Woolen) will be in their long-term plans.”

Seahawks at Commanders: Keys to the game, how to watch and prediction
As the Seahawks returned from their bye this week, they gave off a vibe of being confident but not complacent.
At 5-2 and tied with the Los Angeles Rams atop the NFC West, the Seahawks have every reason to think big.
But to a man, they said they understand they haven’t done anything yet.
“I feel like we’ve got a lot of work to do,’’ said receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, currently on pace to finish with more receiving yards than anyone in NFL history. “Like Coop (receiver Cooper Kupp) said a couple days ago, you can’t go to the playoffs with five wins. That’s something that we all feel in this building and something we just want to build and grow. We want to attack it week-by-week, be 1-0, and when we look up get ready for the playoffs.’’

Seahawks place Julian Love, Eric Saubert on injured reserve
The Seahawks made a couple of anticipated roster moves Saturday, placing safety Julian Love and tight end Eric Saubert on injured reserve.
Each had already been declared out for Sunday’s 5:20 p.m. game at Washington — Love with a nagging hamstring injury and Saubert with a calf issue.
To replace them on the 53-man roster, Seattle activated rookie fullback Robbie Ouzts off injured reserve and signed safety Jerrick Reed II off the practice squad.
The Seahawks also elevated receivers Cody White and Ricky White III off the practice squad for Sunday’s game.
