Erling Haaland was again at the heart of City’s brilliant attacking display, scoring twice to take his Premier League tally for the season to 13.
Both goals saw the Norwegian demonstrate his devastating pace, racing in behind Bournemouth’s high defensive line to finish past goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Between his two strikes, the visitors had levelled through an opportunist Tyler Adams finish just a few yards out.
The points were made safe around the hour mark as Nico O’Reilly stepped forward from left-back and arrowed a shot inside the far post.
It all meant that City consigned the Cherries to their first defeat since the opening weekend and moved ahead of them and up to second in the table.
