Jaguars inactives against the Raiders in Week 9

The Jacksonville Jaguars were expected to come a bit healthier out of their BYE. However, they find themselves having to deal with the injury bug ahead of the Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

In the days preceding the matchup, they placed two-way star Travis Hunter and safety Eric Murray on the Injured Reserve. Both of them will miss at least four games, and they won't be the only players who will miss the Raiders game.

The Jaguars will be without Travis Hunter, but other players may not suit up vs. the Raiders

The Jaguars listed linebacker Devin Lloyd as questionable for the game, and there's a chance he won't be available. On top of that, they've already ruled out wide receiver Tim Patrick, who'll miss his second straight game while he recovers from a groin injury.

In light of the injuries they're dealing with, the Jags announced that they promoted linebacker Branson Combs and wide receiver Tim Jones to the roster via standard elevation. The fact that the team promoted Combs is a strong sign that linebacker Devin Lloyd won't suit up.

A first-round pick in the 2022 draft, Lloyd was having a banner season before suffering a calf injury against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. He missed the Los Angeles Rams game, and if he isn't good to go against the Las Vegas, Ventrell Miller will make his second start in a row. There's no doubt that having Lloyd back would be huge, but Jacksonville may not want to rush him back onto the football field and expose him to further injury risk.

On the other hand, it's not surprising to see Jacksonville elevate Tim Jones. After all, Liam Coen told the press corps that the team would promote a receiver off the practice squad in light of the Travis Hunter injury.

Tim Jones and Austin Trammell give the Jaguars depth at receiver

Jones, an undrafted free agent in 2021, spent his rookie season in the Jaguars practice squad but made the roster each of the next three seasons. The Southern Miss Golden State bolted for the Minnesota Vikings in free agency but didn't make the team and was subsequently signed to the Jacksonville practice squad this past October.

And aside from promoting Jones, the team's brass signed Austin Trammell to the active roster to offset Patrick's and Hunter's absence. He probably won't play but will provide depth behind Brian Thomas Jr., Dyami Brown, and Parker Washington.

With that in mind, below are the inactives for the Jaguars game in Week 9.
