Montaric Brown just gave Jaguars a tough decision with jaw-dropping INT

Back in training camp, Montaric Brown was making a strong push for a feature role. However, a leg injury halted any momentum he might've had, as he had to miss the preseason and the early portion of the regular season. However, injuries have thrust Brown into action.

Against the Las Vegas Raiders, "Buster" proved that he's up to the task, coming down with a jaw-dropping play when the Jags needed him the most.

Jaguars CB Montaric Brown picked off Geno Smith

Trailing 6-0, Cam Little set a record-breaking field goal just before halftime to make it 6-3. And early in the third quarter, Montaric Brown picked Geno Smith off. The Jags were able to get three points to tie the game 6-6.

It's fair to say that Brown's interception allowed the Jags to erase whatever momentum the Raiders offense might've had. On top of that, the former Arkansas Razorback showed that he deserves to get paid.

A seventh-round selection, Brown got minimal playing time as a rookie but saw an uptick in playing time the next two years because injuries depleted the Jacksonville secondary. But as valuable as the 2022 seventh-round pick was, he wasn't necessarily consistent. That all changed in 2025.

Brown made a strong impression in the offseason, and his promising outing carried over into training camp. Unfortunately, the aforementioned leg injury brought his bid for a starting job to a halt.

The good news is that once Brown was back, he picked up where he left off. He replaced a struggling Jarrian Jones in the lineup and has seen his role increase.

Against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7, he logged a season-high 70 snaps on defense. It looks like the Jags were pleased with what they saw and made him the starter opposite Greg Newsome in Week 9. The Ashdown, Arkansas, native showed he was deserving of a nod with a momentum-killer interception.

The Jaguars will need to decide what to do with Montaric Brown

Montaric Brown is in the midst of a contract year. He's set to become a free agent, and there are no signs that the Jacksonville Jaguars plan to give him an extension. Based on how valuable he's been, maybe they should be proactive and try to give him a new deal before his stock soars even more.

Then again, Brown may want to continue betting on himself and see what his market is in free agency. If he keeps playing the way he has, he'll have no shortage of suitors.

In the meantime, the Jaguars must be thrilled to see Montaric Brown come through in a game where teams have had trouble reaching the goal line.
