Good fantasy football owners took a chance on Cam Little after seeing he recorded a 70-yard field goal in the preseason.

The Jacksonville Jaguars kicker set a new NFL record by nailing a 68-yard field goal at the end of the first half in Sunday’s overtime win against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Little’s kick, the longest in NFL history, surpassed Justin Tucker’s 66-yard record set in 2021.

“You kick it long enough and you kick it straight enough, it’s going to go in,” Little told reporters of his record-setting kick after the win, according to NFL.com. “Me and Logan (Cooke) kind of had like a one-on-one right before the kick and I said, ‘I’m going to hit this ball as hard as I can.’ Usually when I tell myself that, I find success.”

Liam Coen Says Kick Was Like Winning the Super Bowl

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen took the moment even a step further. Comparing the historic kick to the game’s pinnacle achievement.

“I ran right at him, it was like we had won the Super Bowl,” Coen said postgame. “But it was what ignited us and that confidence from him, from a guy who had been struggling, that was really a special moment for our team.”

Setting up Little’s record-breaking kick required some precise work from the Jaguars offense. After the game’s first score, Jacksonville took over at their own 31-yard line with 28 seconds remaining. Following a short completion to start the drive, Trevor Lawrence connected with Parker Washington for an 18-yard gain, then rushed to the line to spike the ball at the 50-yard line.

Little then stepped onto the field and made NFL history, drilling a 68-yard field goal as the final four seconds of the half expired, giving Jacksonville a 6-3 lead at halftime. The kick might even have been good from 70 yards — a distance Little had already proven possible during the preseason with a successful attempt from his team’s 48-yard line.

On the day, Little made all three of his field-goal attempts, including a 48-yarder as time expired in regulation, helping the Jaguars edge the Raiders 30-29 in overtime.

Cam Little Continues Good Play and Joins History in NFL

Little’s record-breaking kick marks the highlight of an already strong season for the 22-year-old. Through seven games in his second year, he has made 14 of 18 field-goal attempts and 17 of 18 extra points. The sixth-round pick out of Arkansas converted 27 of 29 FGs in his rookie season, with a career-long of 59 yards — until Sunday, when his 68-yarder became his first-ever attempt from 60-plus yards.

With NFL kickers steadily improving and connecting on long field goals at an impressive rate — Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, for example, has five career makes from 60-plus yards — Justin Tucker’s record was always vulnerable.

Per ESPN Research, there have been seven field goals of at least 60 yards this season, which is already the most in a single season in NFL history. The previous record was five in 2022 and 2023.

Now, all eyes will be on who can challenge Little’s new 68-yard benchmark.

The Jaguars (5-3) are at the Houston Texans (3-5) next Sunday, while the Raiders (2-6) are at the Denver Broncos (7-2) on “Thursday Night Football.”
