Erling Haaland scored a first half brace either side of a Tyler Adams goal, before Nico O’Reilly confirmed the points for the hosts in a 3-1 win for the Citizens.
Andoni Iraola said he felt his side’s performance was ‘decent’ – but that was not enough to earn anything from the game.
The Daily Echo rates the Cherries players in defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
**Djordje Petrovic: 6**
Petrovic was beaten one-on-one twice by Haaland but also made a few top saves in the first half to keep Bournemouth in the game. A solid performance from the Serbian.

**Adrien Truffert: 5**
The left back combined well with Semenyo on the left but he, and the whole defence, were at times caught out and punished by City. Truffert was slow in following the Cherries high line and played Haaland onside for his second goal.
**Marcos Senesi: 5**
Senesi was also caught out for the second goal, jumping up out of the back line and allowing Haaland to exploit the space in between the centre backs. The Argentine looked composed on the ball but the back four’s defensive lapses cost the team.
**Bafode Diakite: 5**
As above, Diakite at times struggled with the City forwards, in particular Haaland. The Norwegian got goal side of the French defender for his first and Diakite was powerless to prevent the second with the threat of a foul and a sending off.

**Alex Jimenez: 5**
Like the rest of his back four teammates, the Spaniard struggled at times with the City attack. Jimenez had some good moments – particularly the goalline clearance to prevent a third goal in the first half.
**Tyler Adams: 7**
A good performance from the American against a tough test in the City midfield. Scored his first goal for the club as he was the quickest to react to a dropping ball in the six-yard box.
**Alex Scott: 6**
A solid showing from the Englishman in defeat, although he wasn’t able to be as influential as in recent weeks.
**Antoine Semenyo: 6**
City were able to keep the Ghanian fairly quiet but he kept coming at them, and had some joy late on, although they weren’t able to get back into the game.
**Marcus Tavernier: 5**
Tavernier wasn’t able to have too much of an impact on the game. Like the rest of the Cherries attacking group, there was a lot of effort for not much reward.

**David Brooks: 6**
A decent return to the starting XI for the Welshman with a good amount of endeavour but a good performance from Nico O’Reilly kept him under control.
**Junior Kroupi: 5**
Kroupi was kept quiet by the City centre backs and missed two good chances at the start of the second half which you might have expected him to take with the form he’s in.
**Substitutes:**
**Justin Kluivert: 6**
**Lewis Cook: 6**
**Evanilson: 6**
**Ryan Christie: 6**
**Ben Gannon-Doak: 5**
