New sim card to fix 'poor internet connection' at Vitality Stadium

Alex Deutsch, director of Planet Telecom, said he has developed an eSIM through his company’s spin-off, Simovo.

The technology automatically seeks out the strongest UK mobile network wherever a user is, helping to avoid congestion and black spots that often occur during football games.

He said: “I tried it yesterday and it works a treat.

“I couldn’t get signal within the ground, I couldn’t get the internet to work, I couldn’t even load football scores.

“But I used this sim and it worked perfectly.”

Alex said he is looking for five AFC Bournemouth fans to test the eSIM at the next home game, offering the trial free of charge.

The eSIM costs around £2 for a 1GB data package and can be downloaded directly onto a phone.

Users only pay for what they need, and the service ends automatically once the period is over. Alex said Bournemouth football fans will receive a discount.

He added that international versions are also available, allowing travellers to use local networks abroad without paying high roaming charges and helping ensure they have a fast internet connection anywhere in the world.

Planet Telecom, based in Bournemouth, has been operating for 25 years and has primarily served business clients.

The eSIM represents a new consumer-focused branch of the company, aimed at improving connectivity in crowded venues such as football stadiums, festivals and on trains.

Alex emphasised that the initiative is not a criticism of AFC Bournemouth and wants to support the club by solving its connectivity problems.

“It’s not about the club letting anyone down.

“We’re actually regional partners and have adverts up at the stadium. This is just about improving the fan experience,” he said.

Since launching six months ago, Simovo’s eSIM has already sold thousands of units and continues to expand across the UK.

Alex believes the technology offers a simple, affordable solution to a problem many fans face: staying connected during live events.
