Liverpool vs Real Madrid team news ahead of the Champions League clash at Anfield.
Liverpool turn their attention to the Champions League as they welcome Real Madrid to Anfield on Tuesday.
The Reds have a huge week ahead as they also face Manchester City in the Premier League at the weekend. But all attention will firstly been on the visit of the Spanish giants as Arne Slot’s side look to take another step closer to qualifying for the knockout stage of Europe’s elite club competition.
However, Liverpool face a Real side that are top of La Liga and have an unblemished record in the Champions League so far this season.Slot’s squad may be stretched because of the number of injuries so the Reds boss will have decisions to make.
Madrid so have a few concerns of their own, though, as Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to Anfield for the first time after leaving his boyhood club for the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window.
Ahead of the fixture, here’s the current team news for both sides.
Liverpool team news
Alexander Isak - doubt
The £125m British record signing has missed Liverpool’s past three games because of a groin injury. Liverpool are unlikely to take any risks given that Isak did not have a proper pre-season.
Curtis Jones - doubt
The midfielder did not train ahead of Aston Villa, having picked up a groin problem in the 3-2 loss at Brentford the previous week. Much will depend on how well Jones has recovered.
Alisson Becker - out
The No.1 goalkeeper has been sidelined since a 1-0 loss at Galatasaray and been unavailable for the past six games. There are suggestions that Alisson could not be back until after the international break.
Jeremie Frimpong - out
The Netherlands international has a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him sidelined until after the international break.
Giovanni Leoni - out
The centre-back suffered a devastating ACL injury on his debut against Southampton in September. Leoni will not play again this season and was removed from Liverpool’s Champions League squad.
Jayden Danns - out
The striker finds himself back on the treatment table because of a hamstring injury and cannot take a place on the bench.
Stefan Bajcetic - out
The midfielder has still to make a return to action after having hamstring surgery in the summer. He picked his issue up while on loan at Las Palmas. Bajcetic has not been registered in Liverpool’s Champions League squad.
Calvin Ramsay - out
The right-back made a first-team return in last week’s 3-0 Carabao Cup loss to Real Madrid. Ramsay was not on the bench against Villa, to some supporters’ disappointment, and he has not been registered in the Champions League squad to is ineligible.

Dani Carvajal - out
The Real Madrid captain was forced to have surgery after a 2-1 win over Barcelona in El Clasico.
David Alaba - out
The centre-back has been unavailable for Madrid’s previous three games because of a foot problem.
Antonio Rudiger - out
The former Chelsea defender has been on the sidelined since September with a thigh injury.
