For the first time since their bye in Week 5, Micah Parsons and the Green Bay Packers tasted a loss — against a team not many thought would be the one to end their win streak.
The Packers entered Week 9 having won all of their last three games and with an NFC North division-best 5-2-1 record. Many thought that the Carolina Panthers would be easy pickings for the Packers, especially at Lambeau Field. Instead, the Panthers flipped most people’s expectations and defeated Green Bay, 16-13.
After the game, Parsons shared his thoughts on Green Bay suffering a loss to Carolina despite the Panthers getting pedestrian numbers from quarterback Bryce Young.
Via Ryan Wood of USA TODAY:
Packers D front didn’t sack Bryce Young, but Micah Parsons made fair point on pass rush.
Young hit 11-20 for 102 yards, and GB still lost.
“If we lose a game like that in the NFL, we just didn’t play good. Not too many quarterbacks are throwing for 100 yards and winning.”

Young only passed for 102 yards with zero touchdowns and five interceptions on just 11-of-20 pass completions.
But Carolina also decided to go on a run-heavy attack against Green Bay, with running back Rico Dowdle going off for 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.
As a team, Carolina had 163 rushing yards on 33 attempts.
Many have raised the Packers’ inability to slow down Carolina on the ground when reacting to Parsons’ postgame statement.
“Did he have any comments on Rico Dowdle running all over them today?,” said a fan on X.
Another one said: “😂🤣😂 I too remember when he couldn’t stop the run in Dallas because he’s a linebacker playing DE 👍🏻”
From a commenter: “As the Panthers fan stated, “Who needs to throw when we can run the ball down your throat?” Answer for that Mr. Parsons?”
“They knew they were going to run and could not stop them. Just a weak, unprepared defense.,” a social media user posted.
Via a different commenter: “All that money for that guy??? Lose to that team?? What a joke”
Said another: “They rushed for 163 though …. Seems like hes throwing his offense under the bus a bit”
