Bruno Guimaraes has issued a statement following Newcastle United’s defeat to West Ham.
The Newcastle United captain was unable to inspire his side against the Hammers, coming out second best in the battle against his best friend Lucas Paqueta.
West Ham deserved to beat Newcastle United, and they will hope this result kickstarts their quest to avoid relegation.
For the Magpies, it is the latest setback in what is proving to be a frustrating campaign.
That is not lost on Bruno Guimaraes, who has said ‘sorry’ to supporters following Sunday’s result and performance.

Bruno Guimaraes sends plea to Newcastle United supporters
After Newcastle’s loss to West Ham, Bruno has taken to his official Instagram account to send a message to the Toon Army.
The 27-year-old could not hide his disappointment at such a crushing defeat, but is eager to look towards Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Athletic Club rather than dwell on Sunday’s embarrassment.
Bruno wrote on his Instagram story: “Have to say sorry for our fans today. Not near enough to our best level.

“Your support is more than appreciated by us and we have to show it on the pitch, especially away from home. We have a big game on Wednesday and need the Geordies more than ever.”
It is another quick turnaround for Newcastle United, who face Athletic Club in the Champions League at St James’ Park on Wednesday.
It is an opportunity to put the West Ham result behind them with a strong Champions League showing, but problems still remain in the Premier League.
Wor Flags have a plan as Newcastle United prepare for Champions League showdown
As Bruno calls on the Newcastle United fans to back them in the Champions League on Wednesday, Wor Flags have a plan in place for another special European night at St James’ Park.
Toon fans have already witnessed two spectacular displays in the Champions League this season. Wor Flags’ AC/DC-inspired spectacle before Barcelona was incredible, as was the 1969 Fairs Cup tribute ahead of the win over Benfica.
Next up is something that includes every Toon supporter inside St James’ Park, with Wor Flags asking fans to bring their black and white scarves to the game against Athletic Club.

It is something they have done in the cup in recent years, with a sea of black and white scarves creating an incredible visual before and during the game.
That is the plan on Wednesday, as Eddie Howe and his players attempt to bounce back from their humiliation against West Ham.
