Tomahawk steak, raw milk, maple syrup in coffee, red light therapy, and cold plunging are a few of the habits that make up Erling Haaland’s meticulous daily routine. Since launching his YouTube channel last week, over 5.1 million people have already tuned in to watch how the football star lives his day-to-day life.

But, it was the world-famous striker's more subtle choice, which has caught the attention of licensed dietitian nutritionist Nicolle Cucco at Muscle Booster: raw honey.

As the 25-year-old was filmed leaving Greenoaks Farm in Cheshire, Haaland excitedly told the camera: “You need a bit of honey, you need local raw honey.”

And according to Nicolle, Brits should be considering following Haaland’s £7.50 honey health hack this winter. Nicolle said: “Raw honey is historically associated with sore throats, but as hinted at by Haaland, it is a natural substance which can offer a range of health and nutritional benefits, many of which can have an even larger positive impact on the body during the winter, when our immune systems need an extra boost and wounds take that little bit longer to heal.”

* Boosts Immunity: Nicolle said: “Raw honey contains antioxidants and enzymes which can help boost the body’s immune system from fighting off illness and infection, something significantly more common in the winter. Raw honey is also packed with flavonoids and polyphenols, which have anti-inflammatory properties, to boost the support offered to key organs and muscle groups.”

* Supports digestion: Nicolle said: “Raw honey can act as an effective prebiotic, with these bacteria able to positively support gut health and the digestive system.”

* Packed with nutrients: Nicolle said: “It also contains a variety of vitamins and minerals which can boost daily bodily functions. Raw honey contains small amounts of calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron, all minerals which can help combat symptoms of fatigue.”

* Helps healing: Nicolle said: “Raw honey’s antioxidant, antibacterial, antimicrobial and vitamin properties can also help with the healing of wounds, many of which can take longer to heal in the colder months.”
