Many of our Men’s, Women’s and Academy players have been sent out on loan this season to gain experience and taste further action.
Reiss Nelson opened his Brentford account with a goal and an assist on Tuesday night, as the Bees joined us in the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw with a 5-0 win at Grimsby Town. Following Reiss’ full debut, the forward told BBC Sport: “I’ve been working in the background, so I was delighted to start and get a nice assist and a nice goal - it’s about moving forward from here.” Reiss also played 16 minutes in Brentford’s Premier League defeat at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
🎙️ Keith Andrews on Reiss Nelson
"Reiss is a very mature young man. He’s very serious about the game. Naturally, when you have those setbacks you develop a level of resilience. We had to be a little bit patient with his approach. Grimsby was a good showcase of what he’s about" pic.twitter.com/gzX4arjPPi

It continues to be an excellent campaign for Jakub Kiwior, who was once again on the winning side for unbeaten Porto in Monday night’s 2-1 win at Moreirense in Liga Portugal. Jakub set up an 88th-minute winner for Denis Gul on the night, continuing from a superb start to 2025/26.
For Fabio Vieira and Hamburg, it was cup time in midweek, and a successful test. The Portuguese midfielder played the full 90 minutes as his side advanced in the DFB Pokal, overcoming Heidenheim 1-0 away from home on Tuesday night. Fabio was then sent off in a 4-1 defeat to FC Koln on Sunday.
Young goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard was also a weekend winner on Saturday, as his Brabrand side emerged victorious 2-0 against Hellerup in the Danish Second Division.
Oleksandr Zinchenko remained absent with a groin injury for Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, while Karl Hein was an unused substitute for Werder Bremen in a 1-1 Bundesliga draw with Mainz.
Ismeal Kabia impressed for Shrewsbury Town in the first round of the FA Cup, playing a part in all three goals in their 3-1 win away to non-league South Shields. Maldini Kacurri's Morecambe weren't in action this week, giving our defender the weekend off.
Michelle Agyemangsuffered a major injury setback while on international duty with England last week, as we continue to work closely with Brighton & Hove Albion on her road to recovery. Rosa Kafaji played 45 minutes for the Seagulls in their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.
Madison Earl played the first hour for Ipswich Town as they lost 4-1 at home to Newcastle United in the WSL 2, while Naomi Williams was on the bench for Bristol City as they won 4-2 away to Sunderland, while Vivienne Lia's Nottingham Forest scored two late goals to secure a dramatic 3-2 win away to Southampton.
Jessie Gale came off the bench to score a stoppage-time winner for Portsmouth in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, moving Pompey off the bottom of the WSL2 table.
Laila Harbert played the final 15 minutes for Portland Thorns in their 2-0 win over Houston Dash, a result that secured a home tie against San Diego Wave in the first round of the NWSL play-offs for the Thorns.
