Red card - what Hurzeler told Farke during Albion v Leeds flashpoint

Fabian Hurzeler has explained why sparks briefly flew with an opposite number and compatriot at the Amex.

The [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) head coach exchanged words with fellow German coach Daniel Farke, who is in charge of Leeds United.

Hurzeler was angered when Nathan Ampadu hacked down Diego Gomez during the Seagulls’ 3-0 win.

Frustrations were increasing for the visitors following Gomez’s double to put the match out of their reach.

Hurzeler had to be reminded of the flashpoint after an initial question in his post-match press conference.

He said: “That's a good question. Sometimes I'm in my tunnel, so I have to ask him what I said to him.”

Reminded of the Ampadu foul, he added: “I said in Germany it might be a red card. Sometimes I need to adapt to how we judge fouls here.

“I think in Germany it might be different.

“But overall these are emotions of the game. So that's part of it.

“I have a huge respect for him, how he's working, how he progresses his team.

“It is just impressive what he's doing and that was just small, short of discussion but nothing bad.”

Michael Oliver showed his only yellow card of the game as he booked Ampadu.

Albion have not had a player booked in either of their last two home games.
